Dr. John Shelton

Dr. Shelton — Bradenton, FL — ENT Associates of Manatee

Dr. Shelton was born and raised in Lexington, Kentucky. He graduated from Furman University in 1993 with a B.S. in Biology and went on to earn his M.D. from the University of Kentucky College of Medicine, where he graduated first in his class in 1998. While at UK, Dr. Shelton was the recipient of several academic honors and awards, including the College of Medicine Research Award, the Dean’s Research Award, and the College of Medicine Academic Excellence Scholarship and induction into Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Medical Society. In 1996, he completed a one-year fellowship at the U.K. College of Medicine Department of Pathology. Dr. Shelton completed his General Surgery and Otolaryngology Head and Neck Surgical residency in 2003 at Shands at the University of Florida. He is recognized for research in skull base osteomyelitis and carotid sheath parathyroid adenoma.



He has been a board certified practicing Otolaryngologist at ENT Associates of Manatee since 2003. Dr. Shelton’s areas of expertise include thyroid and neck ultrasound, thyroid surgery, endoscopic sinus surgery, laryngology, and office-based balloon sinuplasty.


He is a member of the American Academy of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery, American Academy of Otolaryngic Allergy, Florida Society of Otolaryngology, Manatee County Medical Society, and Florida Medical Association. Dr. Shelton is affiliated with Manatee Memorial Hospital and Manatee Surgical Center.


He enjoys camping, kayaking, fishing, and traveling with his wife and two children.
